In a currently developing story, this much is known: Team Roberts/KTM/Proton rider Shane "Shakey" Bryne was injured in a scooter crash Sunday night at Jerez.
While the official line has Byrne left dizzy and scabbed up from the reported 40 mph crash (sans helmet, presumably); the very unofficial word has Byrne knocked out cold for ten minutes in the fall, leaving Team Roberts looking for a replacement rider for this weekend's Grand Prix of Portugal.
Roberts Team Manager Chuck Aksland said in an e-mail last night that Byrne was simply left dizzy after the spill and a bit banged up, and that rumors the team were enlisting current Honda Superbike rider Jeremy McWilliams to sub for Byrne this weekend were untrue.
