Repsol Honda's Nick Hayden left it late to record the quickest time of the second free practice session in Turkey after Casey Stoner led for a majority of the hour.
Hayden's fastest lap of 1:53.623 came on lap 25 of 26, leaving him just 0.238 seconds in front of the young Australian who led this morning's first practice.
Fortuna Honda rider Marco Melandri clearly likes the Istanbul track having won the 2005 race, and the Italian slipped into third spot, 0.348 back of the former AMA Superbike champion.
Pedrosa finished the session in fourth, Elias in fifth, Edwards in sixth and Capirossi came home seventh, just 0.054 seconds splitting the four.
Valentino Rossi could only manage 11th place, just over a second back of the 'pole' time, although the multiple champion is clearly working on eradicating existing problems with the set-up of the factory Yamaha.
So, domination at the top of the timing sheets, the first five positions taken by HRC with their RC211V machine, the youngsters on a charge.
