Notes: Mladin and Hacking were clearly pushing very hard in the session with Hacking's bike moving around under him and hooking up hard out of the corners. Mladin is said to have a cold, but denied it in the post-session press conference.

Mladin said that stories of a virus are untrue it's just that he's beat down a bit from life, saying something to the effect of "Some people think it's a big deal to have your appendix taken out; they should try being married and having kids."

Superbike champion Ben Spies is looking noticeably thin in his leathers and after getting off the bike at the end of the session walked like a Civil War soldier after a two-day traveling battle.

The surface here at Mid-Ohio was supposed to be a skating rink even in the dry and made worse by some old hulk blowing its guts out on the racing line last weekend. Of course, the reality is, according to Mladin, that--in the dry--the place has "awesome" traction.
