Spies recently had surgery.
The factory Suzuki Superbike can win 40 straight AMA Superbike race in a row if one their riders takes the victory this Saturday at Mid-Ohio.

They were last topped at Miller in 2006 by Jake Zemke and Honda in June of 2006. Over that time, the Mladin/Spies domination has barely seen a close challenge. The closest to upsetting the duo has been Kawasaki's Jamie Hacking ran strong at Miller. Mat crashed out and Spies had tire problems, but Spies was able to hold on for the win.

Over the streak, Mat Mladin has won 22 races, Ben Spies has won 17 for the Rockstar Makita Suzuki squad.

Spies had surgery recently but was suiting up to go out on the tack when Soup stopped by the Yosh truck moments ago.

The streak hasn't been well-received by all. The Mansfield News Journal's Rob McCurdy calls for major changes for the series in an editorial in the local paper in reaction to his Mid-Ohio experiences since 1999.
