The meeting that took place in Laguna Seca GM Gill Campbell's house Wednesday night was exactly like the Potsdam Conference except instead of Stalin and Truman sitting across the table from one another and discussing worldly matters, it was Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta and Daytona Motorsports Group's Roger Edmondson. And it didn't go down in Potsdam. And Churchill didn't attend, mostly because he's dead.
What was discussed by Edmondson and Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta is unknown, but they did have a meeting, did meet and talked.
Politically, the relationship between Dorna and Daytona Motorsports Group will be an interesting one to watch. Without putting too fine a point on it, if Dorna expects DMG/AMA to assume a subservient position, anyone who knows Daytona knows that won't be tolerated. The worst possible thing that could happen is for Dorna to treat key AMA/DMG people like a hotel bathmat.
If that happens, unfortunately, this could be the last joint AMA/MotoGP event.
