Two-time AMA Superbike Champion Ben Spies underwent an apendectomy in a Dallas hospital on Tuesday.

After suffering back pain and nausea in California, Spies returned to Texas before going to the hospital.

Ben crashed the Suzuki MotoGP bike on Friday but finished eighth in the USGP and was second in the AMA Superbike race on Sunday.

Spies currently leads the AMA Superbike championship by 36 points. The next races are August 1-3 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
