images by tim huntington

The 25 tonne bridge will be lifted by only one of these canvas belts at each end

Turn 9, Rainey Curve, without the bridge (and without the new run-off area which will be arriving next year)

This 150 tonne crane's need to be level demonstrates Laguna's undulating nature

Final preparations before lift off

Per construction union rules, you need to state the obvious

Yamaha's Bob Starr chats with Wayne Rainey before lift off

The two cranes, one capable of lifting 150 tonnes, the other 100 tonnes, lift the 25 tonne bridge into the air

The foreman on the left keeps an eye on the bridge as they start to swing it into it's new place

Bob Starr, Gill Campbell (Laguna Seca CEO/GM), Don Ask (Scramp President), John Pinio (Director of Monterey Parks) and Wayne Rainey all look the wrong way as someone steals their bridge from right under their noses

The cranes have to lift the bridge high to clear the trees that surround that area of the track, whilst in the background, earthmovers are working on new camping facilities

Don Ask and Scramp colleagues celebrate the bridge landing in its new home
