Fiat Yamaha's Valentino Rossi rocketed from 7th on the grid to 2nd in the race, but he just could not catch race-winner Casey Stoner.

Piano Man Toseland was decidedly off-key in Germany and unable to improve on his 11th-place starting position.

Stoner aped Russell at Loudon circa 1993, so Rossi really had no chance to beat the Mighty Casey.

This is the feeling you get when you qualify in third, then proceed to DNF in the race.

Chris the V qualified way down in 14th, but he finished third in the rain-sodden final.
