Just before Domenicali brought the Ducati race team in-house, Virginio Ferrari ran it under the AD/VF banner. Kocinski was his rider. JK looked to be at war with the mechanics. This was the moment of pole-joy, which lasted until John ran out of gas on the front straight at Laguna Seca and they had to go get the bike. Remarkably the bike fired right up but they still had to push it back. "It's a half-a fulla' gas!?'
