There was a time when every motorcycle manufacturer and all of the large parts and accessories houses, and the larger dealers all had an official Miss Champion Spark Plugs-style woman on scene at many races, shows and official dinners.
These photographs were shot by Al Ivins at a motorcycle show in 1972. There is even a Miss American Motorcyclist Association.
While having a Miss AMA is now viewed with thru a different cultural lens, the period AMA's sins were much greater than a girl in a dress. The American Motorcyclist Association was a white's only organization for many years and would not accept members who were African American, Mexican or etc.
