I've worn Arai helmets nearly my entire adult life. I wore them when I was a fan in the bleachers, when I club raced, when I started writing and throughout the entire history of this web site (1997!). For great periods of my "Arai time" my helmets were custom-fitted to my pumpkin-like head and face by my good friend Bruce Porter.

Recently I needed a new helmet and decided to get the Arai Nicky Hayden "Reset" Corsair X.

I knew rider and businessman Sammy Tanner—he was the original "Flyin' Flea"—so since I needed an Arai I inquired if helmets were still available through the late Tanner's business, Sammy Tanner Distributing.

I bought a brand new Nick "Reset" helmet from Tanner's son, Jack, for $650 plus shipping. It came with both clear and tinted shields and the pin-lock anti-fog insert. I'm told this is a tremendous deal and that Jack still has helmets.

I don't have Jack Tanner's contact information—the deal was made by a mutual friend—but he's on social media and can't be that hard to find.
