As If The Holiday Season Isn't Already Tough Enough For the Hayden Family

Thanks to scammers, phones belonging to the remaining Hayden family blew up last night. For them what followed was pain and feelings of betrayal by persons with no scruples at all.
"Can't wait to see it! Have you seen it?! I bet you're proud! So happy!"
See what?
Some monster on social media has posted a link to a news story reporting that Netflix has produced and will show a documentary on Nicky Hayden next summer. Not knowing any better, fans were tricked into rejoicing and in turn contacted the family on nearly every form of modern communication to express their surprise and happiness. Pings, alerts, and notifications came one after the other, vibrating with the kind of urgency that usually follows a crisis.
So, the Hayden family, who have all had to find some peace in a life at that at one time seemed unimaginable, who already have to try and make it through the Christmas season without Nicky or Earl, get to explain all the fans and friends (or their own children) who contacted them that, no, there is no Netflix movie on Nicky Hayden or the Hayden family. The page detailing the Netflix film is loaded with spyware and infects computers with just one click. The link, plastered across the internet, was a scam. People who clicked it found themselves exposed to spyware, the malicious kind of software that steals information without permission.
There is no Netflix movie. It's yet another online scam exploiting Nicky's memory as a tool to deceive unsuspecting fans.

Last night a scam was spreading across the internet, luring people to click and unknowingly exposing them to spyware—malicious software designed to steal information without consent. They were lured in by fake news about Nicky Hayden.
