It began with Fabio Quartararo crashing his Yamaha on the sighting lap and culminated with Marc Marquez crashing out of a big lead in a dry race.
Then the Safety Car was being driven very aggressively and powerslid into the barriers in turn 15 on the warm-up lap.
Just before the scheduled start Marc Marquez bolted from the grid like he was about to be served papers by a divorce lawyer. Most of the grid, who were not on slicks, followed him and chaos reigned for a few minutes until the race start could be resumed. Riders, in leathers and helmets, were running down the pitlane to get their dry bikes.
Marquez was the first one to run and he must have had a plan as he pushed his umbrella girl away from his spot on the grid a few minutes before he broke and ran.
Total chaos ensued. Riders and teams were trying to drag motorcycles hither and yon. Afterwards, the majority of the grid started the race on slicks.
Marquez crashed out with a huge lead, re-mounted, but with the right footpeg sheared off, pulled in after a few laps. He DNF'd the race.
Francesco Bagnaia won the race by over two seconds.
