MM93 scared the daylights out of his fans and team with a gigantic FP1 crash at CotA this morning during MotoGP practice. The session had barely gotten started when Marc did the classic bump–unsettle the bike–lose the front–slide feet-first into the gravel trap routine—at roughly eleventy-billion miles per hour.

Reigning world champ MM93 looked almost mortal after the crash—walking gingerly and clearly sore all over, including that still-healing wrist. Back in the garage, his team stared at the video screens like they’d wandered into the wrong theater and their kids were suddenly watching "The Human Centipede."

Marc did walk away and managed to rejoin the session, ultimately clocking the fourth-fastest time. Still, he didn’t look exactly thrilled to climb back on after the beating he took. What do we know for sure? A 2013–2014 MM93 would have tamed that bronco without crashing—or, if he had, he’d have sprinted back to the garage under his own power, smiled, shrugged it off, apologized, and swung a leg back over. Time waits for no man.
