Ask KC: Taking Their Own Sweet Time ...
Paul in Maryland asks:
Honda has dominated the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race, winning this annual event 32 times, including the last 5 events in a row (2022-2026). The next closest manufacturer is Yamaha with 8 total wins. Yet Honda hasn’t won a World Superbike race since Nicky Hayden’s victory at Sepang Malaysia on May 15, 2016.

How can the same manufacturer be so successful at Suzuka’s endurance race while struggling in World Superbike?

Cameron answers: They put the money where they most want results? The 8-hour, although a big bore for most people, seems to tickle the fancy of Honda management.

And in any case they are taking their own sweet time returning to a competitive situation in MotoGP.

For Yamaha, it's as though they did their last R&D preparing for the 2021 season. What a savings!
