Ya Don't Need to Touch the Stove ...
"I'm a little in awe. I'm a little staggered."

Every once in a while, a piece of racing history surfaces that is almost too good to be true. This is one of them. It captures an era of American roadracing that is long gone, when a future World Superbike Champion could still be just another guy at the track trying to figure it all out. There are about a dozen moments in this footage that deserve to be preserved forever.

  • Doug "Pollen" running a N00b triple-digit number

  • "Ya don't need to touch the stove to know it's hot again."

  • $200 for a pair of race tires.

  • "I'm a little in awe. I'm a little staggered."

  • Dave Rash of D&D Cycle is featured. He was the man who tuned Polen to so many contingency money wins.

  • Polen lapping at the fearsome old Texas World Speedway with cords showing on his bias ply front tire.
